REVENGE of the hackers: Operation Payback
12-10-2010 02:59 AM · Post: #1 REVENGE of the hackers: Operation Payback
Check Out The Greatest Hits Of Operation Payback, The Hackers That Took Down Mastercard

Before Operation Payback started taking down banks that cut funding to Wikileaks, the hacktivist operation has taken down half a dozen major organization.
Operation Payback is three-month-old campaign against anti-piracy groups and others. Further details about the operation are scare, except for an extensive page on Wikipedia and other user-edited sites. It has been affiliated with hacker group Anonymous and websites like 4chan and Pirate Bay.
The hacker operation claims credit for attacks on the Recording Industry Association of America, the U.S. Copyright Office, Gene Simmons and others.

REVENGE: Hackers Announce They Will Try To Take Down Visa.com In One Hour

Hopefully Visa was prepared for this.
The cyber-attackers who took Mastercard.com down earlier today just announced plans to take Visa.com down. They say their attack will commence in one hour.
This is, of course, revenge for both credit card companies shutting off donations to Wikileaks.
These are all part of Operation Payback, a coordinated attack on anti-piracy groups and others that started three months ago.

Group Anonymous ftw. They took down other stuff too. For example when Gene Simmons said eradicate piracy they attacked his site. When LimeWire got shut down they attacked all companies involved in the lawsuit. They are basically "hacktivists."

I'm definitely not on board with the whole idea of hacking major sites, because obviously it can be inconvenient for some people. Apart from that, the "revenge" part sounds really heroic. An eye for an eye... Although I never use LimeWire, I was sorta sad to hear it was shut down.

Here at SpYdErWARE, we cannot give our personal opinion due to legal issues. However, we will say that we are rooting for one side; just not which one. ;)

Hacking site won't do anything except make staff pissed off. And make it impossible to use your card I suppose....

Haha

But they're big, if they get hacked they'll be back up in a matter of hours.

Group anonymous is huge, and like its name, anonymous. The amount of minds in the group make it tough for sites to get back up quick, even the big ones.
